Obituary of George E. Murphy

George E. Murphy, Jr., 72, of Gobles, passed away at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, on Monday morning, March 21, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Plainwell to the late George E. and Alberta (De Wryke) Murphy. George was a graduate of Otsego High School, class of 1961. George was a "Jack of all trades" and worked for several local businesses. George also enjoyed his time on the road as a truck driver. George married Donna Belle Easey in Allegan, Michigan. She preceded him in death in 2010. When not at work, George enjoyed western shooting events, took great pride in loading his own shells for hunting, fishing, watching the birds outdoors and building remote control airplanes and boats. He also loved his many travels made with the love of his life, Donna. George is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna and their beloved dog Shadow. He is survived by his children; George E. Murphy III of Otsego, Becky (Craig) Bell of Middleville, Terri (Jeffrey) Sweet of Paw Paw, Larry (Penny Nash) Vareny of Marshall and Lance (Sherry Thompson) of Gobles, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Paw Paw, Michigan on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. An interment will follow at Alamo Center Cemetery.
