Elizabeth "Betty" R. Tennyson, 91, of Niles, passed away peacefully at Woodland Terrace on Saturday, May 07, 2016. She was born on September 1, 1924 to the late; Ralph and Ethelda (Hayes) Rowland in Elmora, New Jersey. Betty graduated from Groveton, N.H. High school in 1942 and later achieved her bachelor's degree from Plymouth State College in 1946. She taught for two year as an elementary school teacher in New Hampshire and one year at Owosso Elementary, in Michigan. On July 30, 1949, she married Donald A. Tennyson at a ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church, in Niles. Together they raised three children, the two eldest preceded her in death; Robert T. Tennyson and Brian Jeffrey Tennyson, in 2006. She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years; Donald A. Tennyson and daughter Lisa Beth Tennyson of Massachusetts. Betty will be remembered as the sweetest, most conscientious and considerate person this side of heaven and now she's home. Memorial contribution can be made in Betty's memory to; the First Presbyterian Church of Niles; 13 S. 4th Street, Niles Or to The National Audubon Society; www.audubon.org. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Betty's life at a luncheon on May 10, 2016 at Twelve O'clock Noon, at the First Presbyterian church of Niles; 13 S. 4th Street, Niles, MI 49120. At Betty's request, cremation has taken place and a private grave side service will be held at a later date.
