Obituary of Bobby G. Bankston

Bobby G. Bankston, 69, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Woodland Terrace of Longmeadow in Niles, following an illness. He was born on April 1, 1947 in Parma, Missouri to the late Harry L. and Mary E. (Gouldman) Bankston. Bobby married Virginia J. Yakim on November 6, 1965 and to that union three children were born; George, Sabina and Steve. He worked most of his life as a machinist and working in his small engine repair business. Bobby was passionate about playing music, especially with his friends at local nursing homes. His faith was very personal and important to him. He also took a great interest in fishing, golfing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Norman Bankston. Bobby is survived by his wife, Virginia Bankston of Buchanan, his children; George (Michelle) Bankston of Greenville, Illinois, Sabina Morton of Buchanan and Steve (Stephanie) Bankston of Almont, Michigan, five grandchildren; Brittany, Dustin, Brier, Eli and Isaiah, a great-grandchild Sydney, four brothers; Gary (Pat) Bankston of Niles, Spurge Bankston of Dowagiac, Wayne (Cathy) Bankston of Niles and Darel (Kathy) Bankston of North Carolina, two sisters, Juanita West of Tennessee and Carlis Brooks of Portage, Michigan as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Apostolic Church, 945 Chippewa Street in Buchanan with a time of visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
