Obituary of Marie Ensign

Marie Ensign, 96, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles, following an illness. She was born December 21, 1919 in Union City, Michigan to the late; Almon L. and Elizabeth P. (Mastin) Cole. In October of 1940, she married Arthur B. Ensign at a ceremony in Union City. Marie later obtained her bachelor's degree in teaching from Western Michigan University. Marie taught for over 25 years for the Edwardsburg school district; she volunteered for the Branch County 4-H club for over ten years. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano, Marie will be remembered most as a great educator to all. She is preceded in death by her parents; Almon and Elizabeth Cole and husband; Arthur Ensign. Marie is survived by her children; Cyndy (Barry) Hanchett, Dee (Jim) Forney and Jason Ensign; grandchildren, Christi (David) Hurst, Lyndee Lard, Nat (Tibby) Hannewyk, Ben (Christie) Hannewyk and eight great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie's memory to the Alzhimers Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
