Mildred Lorain Slavik
June 24, 1921 - June 3, 2016
Mildred Lorain Slavik, 94, of South Bend, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 3, 2016.
Mildred was born on June 24, 1921 to the late Arthur and Alva (Griffeth) Maben in Severy, Kansas.
Mildred was the youngest of five children and was graduated from high school as class valedictorian. After high school Mildred wed Nicholas Radcliff, and together they had four children. Mildred will be remembered by many for her sense of humor, her love of feeding the birds, and her gentle nature. After Nicholas passed away Mildred wed Nelson Slavik Sr. The two shared many wonderful memories until his passing in 2000.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nicholas Radcliff; husband, Nelson Slavik; and siblings, Charles Maben, Edna Cox, Esther Rentfro, and Mary Gaddie.
She is survived by her children, Harry Dee (Julie) Radcliff , Kathryn (John) Raykowski, Charles (Tomme Owens) Radcliff, Roger (Shirley) Radcliff, and step-children Diana (Casey) Murray, Sig (MaryAnn) Slavik, Linda (John) Vegh, and Donna (Jerry) Thacker who provided her with an extended family of eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In keeping with Mildred's wishes she has been cremated and her family will be holding a celebration of her life on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Niles from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
