Obituary of James Berg
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James L. Berg, 77, of Baroda, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 25, 2016.
James was born on October 6, 1938 to the late Edward and Jane (Agens) Berg in Benton Harbor, Michigan. James enlisted in the United States Air Force and on March 7, 1964 he wed Richarda Shaffer at a ceremony in St. Joseph. James retired from Modern Plastics where he was a Millwright for 40 years.
James collected John Deere memorabilia, loved visiting lighthouses, going fishing and was fond of Mater from the Disney movie Cars. But, those that met him for any length of time knew his true enjoyment in life was brought from his family; he enjoyed trips to the Upper Peninsula and especially time with his great granddaughter, Raelynn and his dachshund, Sophie.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Berg and Jane Bendel and siblings Barbara Berg, Ed Berg, and Alta Lawton.
He is survived by his wife, Richarda; sons, Mark (Shelly) Berg of Baroda and David (Heidi) Berg of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle, and Jessica Berg; and one great granddaughter.
A memorial service to honor James' life will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church located at 902 Broad Street in St. Joseph at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
Memorial donations may be made in James' memory to the Humane Society located at 641 S. Crystal Ave., Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
