Obituary of Mary L. Doty

Mary L. Davis Doty, 82, passed away on July 20, 2016 at 1:45 p.m. and the gates of heaven opened and His finest angel was welcomed. Mary was born to the union of Elisha and Nann (Hess) Davis as their fourth child. During the early 1950's she met and married Carl "Eric" Reed Doty. To this union three lovely daughters were born. She was a hard working woman who over the course of her life held jobs at Simplicity Pattern, Schafer Gear Works, G. L. Perry, Fashion Bug and Dollar Tree. She was the Union President during her time at Schafer Gear Works. She loved watching old classic movies, crossword puzzles, drawing and spending time with her grandchildren. In her early years Mary was known to sing a song or two. Throughout her life Mary was recognized for her delightful dishes. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Kimberley A. Doty, Nann Hess Doty, Kyle Doty-Miller; seven grandchildren; Whitney C. Davis (Katrina), Kirsten E. Davis, Dana M. Young, Ashley M. Doty, Jasmine C. Gadie, Terrika L. Miller and Tearra L. Miller; and eleven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Evelyn L. (Davis) Fleming, Dora Bessie (Davis) Webb, Lillian E. (Davis) Austin, Nancy J. (Davis) Smitherman, Debra C. Davis; five brothers, Thomas E. Davis, Joseph S. Davis, Walter W. Davis, Nuri (John Davis) Ansari, Paul F. Davis, a special son-in-law, Terrence Miller; along with a host of friends and family. She is preceded in death by parents, Elisha and Nann Davis; two brothers, Isaac E. Davis and Milmon M. Davis; one sister, Florence (Davis) Shepard; four children, Michael E. Boxley, Keri M. Davis-Gadie and a set of twins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Noon with a time of visitation one hour prior at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church located at 601 N.
