Obituary of Kathleen H. Hickerson
Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen H. Hickerson, 84, of Midland passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center completely surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born to the late Anton and Flossie Spindler on June 25, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan.
Shortly after graduating from high school Kathleen was introduced to Harley Hickerson who became completely smitten with her. Then on April 14, 1951 at a ceremony in Hemlock, Michigan they began their life together as husband and wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, her two sisters and three brothers.
Kathleen will be greatly missed by her children; Sandra Turk of Midland, Dawn (Lyle) Jacobs of Sanford, Linda (George) Lanning of Mio, Lisa (Wally) Nowak of Midland, Mark (Jen) Hickerson of Shepherd and Troy (Marie) Hickerson of Midland. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her brother Bob Spindler of Bay City and her sister Marion Francetic of Saginaw.
An avid baseball fan, Kathleen always loved to root for the Detroit Tigers and to cheer for the Loons at the Dow Diamond. If you were looking for her on a Tuesday, you could find her at the bowling alley playing with her league team. She was also quite the competitor and loved to sit around a table and play games with anyone she could corral, and a day on the water with a boat full of perch or sunfish was a good day in her books. Many would be surprised to find out that she was a bit adventurous and was still riding roller coasters in her 70's. She was known for her expertise in the kitchen, from her phenomenal mashed potatoes, to her pies or delicious cookies. However, of all of the things she enjoyed, her absolute favorite was to be surrounded by her family. Her family was always first and foremost and she certainly took great pride in caring for them in any and every way that she could.
A woman of faith, her life was a living testimony. Though she will be missed, her family and friends find comfort in knowing she is exactly where she wants to be. She has finished her journey victoriously, and is at rest with the Lord.
