Obituary of Karen L. Howard-Brown

Karen L. Howard-Brown, 61, of Benton Harbor passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. She was born on November 13, 1956 in St. Joseph, MI to the late Jerry L. and Mary R. (Null) Howard. Karen attended school in Coloma where she made many lifelong friends. Karen married the love of her life Gordon R. Brown on November 16, 1975. She was employed as a cashier at several grocery stores in the Benton Harbor area. Karen loved being involved with her grandchildren, taking them to 4-H events, county fair and equestrian club. She enjoyed cooking for her family an making sure they were all taken care of. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Howard; sister, Debra Howard; son, Robbie "Rob" Brown; step-son, Richard T. Brown. Karen is survived by her husband, Gordon R. Brown of Benton Harbor; son, Cory A. (Mandy) Brown of Standish, MI; five grand-children, Heather, Cody, Savannah, Audriaunna and Michael; sisters, Tammy (Steven) Juroff of Benton Harbor; Patricia (Al) Fredenburg of Michigan City, IN; and a brother, Jerry (Belinda) Howard of St. Joseph, MI along with several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made in Karen's memory to the American Cancer Society.
