Obituary of Ronald Baxter

Ronald Leland Baxter, 70, of Niles passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 26, 2016 with his family surrounding him. He was born on April 27, 1946 to the late Clifford and Fern (Reese) Baxter in Niles, Michigan. Ronald has been a life-long resident of the community and worked for many years as a machinist until his retirement. On July 10, 1965, he married Janet Faye Vandygriff at a ceremony in Niles. Ronald enjoyed time spent outside gardening with his wife; planting vegetables and roses. He was an excellent horse-shoe player and could shoot pool like no other; in fact he won many tournaments. Most people will remember Ron for his outgoing personality; he could talk to anyone, and never met a stranger. His most cherished time was spent with his family; Ron was a devoted and loving husband and always spoke highly of his children and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; Clifford and Fern Baxter; wife, Janet F. Baxter; son, Sean L. Baxter; brother, Terry Baxter; sisters, Nancy Yahne and Donna Morris. Ron is survived by his daughter, Melinda (Terry) Baxter-Frizzell; granddaughter, Bella Baxter- Allen (9), brothers, Sonny (Mildred) Baxter, of Vandalia, Jimmie (Mary) Baxter, of Homer and Dick (Pat) Baxter, of Niles; sisters, Juanita Singleton, of Niles, Carolyn Schneider, of Coldwater, Sandy (Jerry) Craig, of Constantine and Pam (Mike) Payne, of Niles. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to his daughter; Melinda Frizzell. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the New Beginnings Ministries, 1256 East Main Street, Niles with Pastor Raymond Massey officiating.
