Obituary of Marjorie Reed

Marjorie Reed, 85, of Niles, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 2, 2016 with her family by her side. Marjorie was born on August 3, 1931 to the late Clarence and Neva (Price) Horner in Niles. After graduating from Niles High School in 1949 Marjorie worked as a receptionist. On August 20, 1949 she wed Frank Reed. Marjorie loved word find books, playing cards, putting together puzzles, reading romance novels, Michigan football and always cheered for any team playing against Notre Dame. She was a very loving, caring and gentle soul who was always willing to help those in need. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren who fondly called her "Granny". She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Frank; and sister, Barbara Houghteling. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Bass of Niles; grandchildren, Amanda (Kamran) Ahmed and Jennifer (Scott) Holley, great grandchildren, Kamran Ahmed Jr. and Scott Allen Eugene Holley; sister Patricia Horner of Niles; nephew, John Houghteling; and faithful companion, her dog, Irish. Funeral service to honor Marjorie's life will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. Donations may be made in Marjorie's name to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or Relay for Life Niles.
