Obituary of Sarah L. Smith

Sarah L. Smith, 34, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Bronson Hospital. She was born on May 7, 1982 in Battle Creek to Michael D. and Joanne M. (Mikus) Smith. Sarah graduated from Shepherd High School and a few years later fulfilled her dream of becoming a cosmetologist; Sarah loved doing hair and nails, even as a little girl. She had an eye for fashion as well. Her greatest love was for her two children. Sarah always enjoyed going to church and will best be remembered for her spiritual strength, smile and friendliness. Sarah leaves to remember her two children, Aliyah and Isaiah Smith, her mother, Joanne M. Smith of Shepherd, MI, a father, Michael (Carol) Smith of Battle Creek, MI, maternal grandfather Frank Mikus of St. Louis, MI, a brother, Michael Smith of Battle Creek, MI, a step-brother, Jared Askew of Battle Creek, MI, two step-sisters, Jami (Heath) Fields of Battle Creek, MI and Melissa Suggs of Union City, MI, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and countless lives she has touched. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Robert and Miriam Smith and maternal grandmother Thelma Mikus Rowan. Now Sarah is at Rest. Hold her close, as we do- in your mind and your spirit. Memorial contributions may be made to her family to assist with caring for her children. A time to celebrate Sarah's life will be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at The Potter's House Church, 226 Capital Ave., N.E. in Battle Creek with a time of visitation beginning at the church at 5:00 p.m.
