Obituary of Gladys Tibbs

Gladys Tibbs, 81, of Niles, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 15, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on September 19, 1934 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the late; Harold and Rose (Flores) Alonzo. After graduating high school, she married Rodger L. Tibbs at a ceremony in New York City on December 21, 1952. Shortly after, they moved to Niles, where the two of them raised three children. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; Harold and Rose (Flores) Alonzo, husband; Rodger L. Tibbs, daughter; Vera Lynn Tibbs and grandson; Brent Tibbs. She is survived by her two sons; Gerald and Keith Tibbs, both of Niles, eight grandchildren; Allen (Stacey) Tibbs, Jaime (Scott) Igo, Zack Tibbs, Miki Wagley, Michael (Jessica) Wagley, Kodee (Carleigh) Tibbs, Dylon Tibbs, Kaylee Beadle, 13 great grandchildren; Christian Bradley, Allyssa Bradley, Tessa Wise, Alexis Tibbs, Tyler Smith, Anneke (Matt) Bricker, Allison Wagley, Marissa Mark, Trey Hamilton, Caiden Wagley, Tristen Wagley, Kaleb Tibbs, Marra Norris, two great-great grandchildren; Brian Bricker, Zaleigh Bricker, two dear friends, Dixie and Nancy and her dog, Precious. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Hospice at Home; 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085. At Gladys' request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 4 O'clock in the Afternoon at the Tibbs' family home on 3rd Street and Higgins, Niles.
