Obituary of Dorothy Shaw

Dorothy "Dolly" Shaw, 73, of Dowagiac, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles following an illness. She was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on September 27, 1942 to the late Garver and Maybelle (Cornelius) Wilds. On June 30, 1962 Dolly married Lyle H. Shaw at a ceremony in Dowagiac. Dolly was a homemaker and a faithful member of Calvary Bible Church in Dowagiac. Dolly believed in placing her faith into action and was a member of the church choir for many years, an avid supporter of missions and was the nursery director for countless years. She enjoyed tracing family genealogy, working puzzle books and jigsaw puzzles. Many will remember the beautiful collection of dolls and tea sets she acquired throughout her lifetime. Dolly treasured the time she spent with her local grandson, Christopher. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Leonard, Gene and John Wilds. Dolly is survived by her husband, Lyle Shaw of Dowagiac, two sons, Jim (Beth) Shaw of Bremerton, Washington and John Shaw of Cassopolis, a grandson, Christopher, two step-grandchildren Bridget and Thomas, three sisters; Pat (John) Vande Luyster of Alberta, Alabama, Darlene (Hugh) Trussell of Dowagiac and Rose (Jaime) Aravena of Niles. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Calvary Bible Church in Dowagiac at 12:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. A private interment will be held by the family at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
