Obituary of Joan C Kizer

Joan C. Kizer, 79, of Niles, passed away at Lakeland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph following a brief illness, on Saturday, October 29, 2016. She was born on April 25, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Henry J. and Roberta (Robinson) Robb. After graduating high school Joan continued her education receiving her associate's degree from Southwest Michigan College. On August 19, 1978 Joan married Stanley Kizer at a ceremony in Niles. Joan worked in maintenance for most of her career at Harbor Town Apartments and American Rust Proofing. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, crocheting, cooking and planting flowers. She collected a variety of items such as lighthouses, bells and dolphins. She will be mostly remembered for her love for her family and "telling it like it was". She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother William Robb, a daughter Terri Sewell and a son Robert Rhoads, Jr. Joan is survived by her husband, of over 38 years, Stanley Kizer of Niles, a daughter Penny (Steve) Royce of South Bend, a son Matthew Kizer of Niles, two brothers Roy (Sandy) Robb and Richard (Connie Current) Robb all of Niles, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in Joan's memory to the American Heart Association. In keeping with her wishes her family will remember her privately.
