Obituary of Kathryn I. Solloway

Kathryn I. Solloway, 92, of Niles, passed away at the home of her son on Monday, November 14, 2016. She was born in South Bend to the late Darold M. and Florence (Hanna) Krieger on October 2, 1924. Kathryn married James Solloway at a ceremony in South Bend in April of 1942; He preceded her in death in 1974. A homemaker for most of her life, Kathryn completed her education, graduating from Niles High School Adult Education and then becoming a nursing aid. She retired from Cass County Medical Care Facility after many years of service. Kathryn always enjoyed crafting including cross-stitch and plastic canvas work. She also enjoyed circle books and mostly time spent with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Solloway, several siblings; her three sons; Christy, Dennis and Chub as well as her granddaughter, Stacy Solloway. Kathryn is survived by, four daughters; Marsha Butrick, Vickie Berger, Charlene Vickers, Susan Solloway and three sons; Gary Solloway, Steven Solloway, and Rod (Teresa) Solloway , 20 Grandchildren, and host of great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She leaves three sisters; Frances Buysee, Barb Buskirk, Betty Shimmin and one brother, Kenny Krieger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home in Niles with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn's memory to the charity of choice.
