Obituary of Bradley Robertson

Bradley Adam Robertson, 80, of Niles, passed away at home on Sunday, November 27, 2016, his 35th wedding anniversary, with his wife by his side. Brad was born on December 9, 1935 to the late Adam and Gladys (Smith) Robertson in Niles, Michigan. After high school he went on to become a Mechanical Design Engineer. Brad was a lifelong resident of the west side of Niles and in 1967 he opened his own swimming pool business. On November 27, 1981 Brad wed Sharon. After 35 years at National Standard Brad retired as the Senior Design Engineer. Brad was never one to sit still and after his retirement Brad and Sharon expanded their pool business that she still operates to this day. Brad also loved to travel, especially to Florida and enjoyed collecting old cameras, photography, and building and programming computers. As a true engineer Brad used AutoCAD to help in his pool business and also at home in his personal projects. He also played the Tuba and Sousaphone that he purchased some time ago and enjoyed attending fairs and festivals with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Gregory of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Gary (Melissa) of Alma, Michigan, Gene (Sally), of Niles and Gale Robertson of Niles; daughter, Deborah (Bill) Kangas of Centerton, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and sisters Priscilla (Jack) Coffinger of Edwardsburg and Susanne Gibson of Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Northwest United Methodist Church located at 21855 Brick Road in South Bend beginning at Noon with a time of visitation one hour prior. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Niles Band located at 1441 Eagle Street in Niles or Hospice at Home located at 4025 Health Park Lane in St. Joseph, Michigan.
