Obituary of Anne Bevill

Anne Bevill, 100, of Niles, passed away at Cass County Medical Care Facility on Thursday, June 20, 2013 surrounded by her family. Anne was born on November 19, 1912 to the late Kenneth and Mary "Maude" (Barnett) Gortney in Tishomingo, Mississippi. After school Anne wed the love of her life, Lester Bevill, on June 16, 1934 at a ceremony in Union County, Mississippi. Together they had six children. Sadly, Lester passed away in 1974. Though Anne was a home maker most of her life that does not mean she was idle. Anne was a long time member of Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church. She could often be found making a blanket or cooking a meal for someone at church. She spent much of her free time there cleaning, cooking and mentoring to others; she was a mother and grandmother to many at her church. Although Anne was an amazing cook but also enjoyed a meal out with her family. Her house always had an open door policy especially if it involved her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren coming over for a visit. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters. Anne is survived by her children William (Sue) Bevill of Niles, Kenneth (Donna) Bevill of Niles, Mary Clemans of Leesburg, Florida, Patricia (James) Lamberton of Dowagiac, Brenda (James) Akey of Niles and Danny Bevill of Niles, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at Brown Funeral Home from 6:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and funeral services to honor Anne's life will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Dan Greegor will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in Anne's memory to Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church located at 61268 Indian Lake Road, Niles, Michigan.
