Obituary of Henri Greer

Henri Charles Greer, 79, of Berrien Springs, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 30, 2016. Henri was born on December 4, 1936 to the late James and Ocy (Hanna) Greer in Chicago, Illinois as the second of four children. He proudly joined the United States Marine Corp. and faithfully served 20 years as a proud Marine, retiring in 1976 as a Gunny Sergeant. After his retirement Henri settled in Berrien Springs and was known by all as a proud veteran and marine through and through. In his later years he spent his free time driving bus for Careful Transit in Berrien Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elliott Greer. Henri is survived by his two sisters, Harriet Brown of Chicago and Patsy Meeks of Benton Harbor; best friend Mark Dinges of Berrien Springs, his children who referred to as his God-children, Jessica (Justin) Greco of Niles, Vanessa Dinges of Arizona, and Mark Dinges II of Baroda, his cat, Billy and four legged friend, Bryce; and a large group of extended friends that he considered his family. A service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home in Niles beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. After Henri's funeral he will be cremated and his ashes will be buried at sea by the United States Navy in San Diego, California.
