Obituary of Wava L. Howard

Wava Howard, 85, of Niles, passed away at her home on Monday, December 4, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Wava was born on October 20, 1932, to the late Clifford "Fuzzy" and Alice (Wirrick) Kiggins. On July 27, 1949 she wed William E. Howard at a ceremony in Dowagiac. Wava worked for thirty years as a cook at Barron Lake Café. She enjoyed camping at Rogers Lake campground with her husband and her children. Wava loved the outdoors whether it was working in her flower garden, mowing the yard, snow blowing the driveway or just watching her beloved humming birds. Many family gathering were held in her home, she was the happiest when her children or grandchildren were with her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; her brothers, James and Frank Kiggins. Wava is survived by her children, Robert E. (Dottie Williams) Howard of Niles and MaryLou Roush of Niles; six grandchildren, Heather (Kerry) Roush, Tracy (Terry) Brooks, Roxane Clawson, Billie Jo (Kevin) Batchlor, Bobbie Jo (Guy) Carpenter and Glen Howard; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grand-daughter; siblings, Annebell Kiefer and Velma Leneway. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St. in Niles. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Wava's memory to the Lupus Foundation of America.
