Obituary of Belva J. Carnes

Belva J. Carnes, 86, of Niles, passed away at her residence on Friday, December 9, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Decatur, Michigan to the late Hallie and Fern (True) Brewer. Belva was a graduate of Niles High School. On November 13, 1948 she married Richard Carnes. Belva worked for Simplicity Pattern. Many will also remember her from her years of service at Brady's Avalon Market on Barron Lake. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles. In her free time Belva enjoyed reading, bird watching and cooking. Time spent with her family was what she cherished the most. She loved being a mother, grandma and great-grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Carnes, a brother Duane Brewer and a sister Elaine Kromer. Belva is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Gerald) Dyche of Buchanan and Cathy Carnes of Niles, three sons; Danny (Linda) Carnes of Niles, David (Jacki) Carnes of Vandalia and Dean (Karen) Carnes of Niles, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, a sister, Ethel Lund of Niles and a sister-in-law Betty Jaffee of Dowagiac. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles. Committal services will take place at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Belva's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1340 Sycamore Street, Niles, Michigan 49120.
