Jerry Akey, 68, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and are currently pending.
Jerry Akey was born on May 1, 1945 in Niles to the late Donald and Leona (Huttenstine) Akey
On February 6, 1965 Jerry married the love of his life Karol (Freeze) Akey at a ceremony in Sumnerville, Michigan.
Jerry is survived by his wife, two sons, Rodney (Jaymie) Akey of Niles, Scott (Amy) Akey of California, two daughters, Debra Fox-Akey of Bridgman, Stephanie Akey of Niles, three grandchildren, and a brother Jim (Brenda) Akey of Niles.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing but, most of all spending time with his family and friends and just enjoying retirement.
In keeping with the families wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a private service held at a later date.
