Obituary of James Blackwell

James C. Blackwell, 66, of Niles passed away suddenly but of natural causes. He was born to the late William and Charlis (Stewart) Blackwell on December 12, 1950 in Cawood, Kentucky. After graduating from Niles High School, James enlisted and served his country proudly in the United States Army serving two tours during the Vietnam era. Upon coming back to the United States he quickly found his place as a cook, not only did he immensely enjoy it he was very talented as well. James also enjoyed target shooting, fast cars and reading. He was an avid collector of Indian artifacts. Preceding James in death are his parents and his siblings Roa Blackwell and Flo Matlock. James is survived by his daughter Monica Lewis of Niles, his siblings Sue Anderson of Buchanan, Sandy Blackwell of Niles and Roxie Kiefer of Niles and his three grandchildren. A memorial service to remember James will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:30a.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 10:30a.m. Full military honors will be rendered at a private interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
