Obituary of Revy Smith

Revy L. Smith, 95, of Niles passed away at Westwoods of Niles on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Revy was born on January 22, 1921 to the late Revy and Edna (Crawford) Smith. On October 10, 1943 Revy wed Willodean Knapp and the two enjoyed 72 wonderful years of marriage together. Revy joined the United States Army in 1943 and faithfully served his country. He was medically retired due to a significant injury he sustained in an attack on his tank during the Battle of the Bulge. Revy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willodean; daughter, Sherrian Pegg; son-in-law, Victor Phillips; five sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanette Phillips of South Bend, Valore (Larry) Barrett of Niles, and Paula (Willis) Rogers of Niles; grandchildren, Sara (Gary) Exum, Christine Phillips, Stefanie (Tyler) Vanhouwlingen, Jeff (Buffy) Hall, Joel (Ashley) Barrett, Micah Barrett, Heidi Bearup, and Benjamin Stephens; great grandchildren, Alexander, Alison, Abigail, Connor, Grace, and Joy; son-in-law, Thomas Pegg; and two sisters Funeral services for Revy will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor David Frazier of Coulter's Chapel, where Revy was a faithful member for over 65 years, will be officiating. Burial will take place at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, December 27th at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Revy's memory may do so to Coulter's Chapel Church of God located at 3176 E. Detroit Road, in Niles.
