Obituary of Jane Joossens

Jane passed peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Jane was born in Galien, Michigan and spent her early years there. Later her family moved to South Bend, Indiana, before spending her retirement in Dowagiac, Michigan. Jane was a 1967 graduate of South Bend Central High School. Jane work as a nurse aid at South Bend Osteopathic Hospital and later at Outpost Sports in Mishawaka, Indiana doing merchandise check in and inventory control. She had been active volunteering for a time with local ski patrol and received the Nation Ski Patrol Angel Award. She was also involved with scleroderma, lupus, cancer and arthritis foundations. Jane requested a simple cremation so there will be no visitation, service, or burial. She did not want to inconvenience her family and friends with the usual last minute travel and expenses. Please keep her and her family in her thoughts and prayers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern Walls and Betty (Kenney) Walls; and her oldest brother, Ray Walls. She is survived by her husband John; sons, John Jr. (Shelly) of Portland, Oregon and Nathan (Tina) of Edwardsburg, Michigan; brothers, Tom (Colette) of Winter Garden, Florida and Jim (Cathy) of South Bend, Indiana. Jane was a loving wife, mother, and community member and is and will be missed. We ask the you remember that grieving is a natural and healthy reaction in times like these, but please remember Jane as she was, would not want anyone to be unhappy…celebrate her life. At some time in the late spring or early summer her family would like to have a memorial for her to remember and celebrate her life.
