Obituary of Martha Graves Bunker

Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martha G. (Whitley) Bunker, 84, of Apopka, FL passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Michigan on Monday, January 9, 2017. Martha was born in Wilson, North Carolina on April 5, 1932, to Marie (Brinkley) and Walter Whitley. She graduated from Atlanta Union Academy in 1950; from Florida Sanitarium and Hospital in 1954 as a Nurse; and from the American University of the Caribbean in 1989 as a Doctor of Medicine. Shortly after, Martha returned to the states and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, which she fought for over 25 years with the same quiet determination characteristic of her life. Martha loved to make things beautiful-- gardening, floral arranging, painting, but most of all she loved sharing the good news of Jesus. Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Marie; father, Walter; and husband, Frank. Survived by children, Bonnie Bunker, Tina Gilchrist, Sandra Bunker, and Michele Trubey; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dorothy Whitley and Brenda Fayard. In keeping with her wishes, her body has been graciously donated to further research. A graveside memorial will take place at a later date for both Martha and Frank in Orlando, Florida.
