Obituary of David Lee Cowe

David Lee Cowe, 63, of Niles, passed away at his home on Friday, February 3, 2017. David was born on May 4, 1953 in Jackson, MI to the late George and Mary Ellen (Lee) Cowe. After graduating from high school David went to work for Tyler Refrigeration. He also worked at French Paper Company, Garden City Fan and National Standard, until his retirement in 2015. On March 25, 1972 he wed Nancy Howell at a ceremony in Niles. David was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, gardening and hosting the family cookouts. When he wasn't outdoors he could be found spending time with his grand-daughters, who were the joy of his life or helping out his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Cowe, Mary and Pierre Layman and brothers, Thomas and Robert Nietch. David is survived by his wife, Nancy Cowe; children, Jody (Waylend) Tittle of Buchanan, Shailah (Jason) Nowlin of Niles, and Benjamin (Jennifer) Cowe of Niles; grandchildren, Aria, Halee, and Serynn; siblings, Ann Cowe of Granger, Robert (Loraine) Cowe, of Richland, MI, and George Cowe, Jr. of Delray Beach, FL, Cathy Layman of Bay City, MI, Dale Layman of Joliet, IL and Dean Layman of South Bend. He also leaves many extended family members and close friends. In keeping with David's wishes, cremation has taken place and his family has gathered to remember him privately. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for contributions to be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
