Obituary of Edward Rotzien

Edward L. Rotzien, 68, of Niles, passed away at his home on Monday, February 13, 2017, with his family by his side. Ed was born on February 15, 1948 and raised by Phillip and Bette Rotzien. After graduating from Buchanan High School, class of 1967, Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam Era from 1968-1969. Ed worked for Hess Industries for nearly thirty years and then went to work for Duo Form Company until his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mostly spending time with family and friends. On April 4, 1970 he wed Diann Jones at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Floyd Haberly and Richard Poorman. Ed is survived by his wife, Diann Rotzien of Niles; children, Paige (Brad) Piedt of Benton Harbor and Jason (Lisa) Rotzien of Niles; a granddaughter, Kaitlan Renae Rotzien; siblings, Vernon Curry of Watervliet, Clifford (Cindy) Gerlach of Bridgman and Phillip (Julie) Rotzien of Paw Paw; as well as many extended family members and close friends. Graveside services will be held at Union Cemetery in Berrien Center on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Don Bennett officiating. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army as well as the Buchanan American Legion, Post 51. In lieu of flowers his family has requested memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
