Obituary of Helen Marie Haferkamp

Helen Marie Haferkamp, 84, of Niles, passed away at the home of her daughter, on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Helen was born on April 29, 1932 to the late Thomas and Oma (Lovell) Miller in Niles. Helen worked for many years as a successful real estate agent in the Niles area. She later worked at Elkhart Products until her retirement in 2004. Through the years Helen enjoyed shopping, especially yard sales. She was gifted with growing beautiful flower gardens and took pride in her yard. Helen will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her genuine love for everyone she knew. She had a gift of making people feel at ease. Helen's greatest passion was her love of family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joel Haferkamp, daughter, Judy Eazsol; son, Dennis Knapp; siblings, Margaret, John, Ella May, Tom, Franklin and Mildred. Helen is survived by her children, Marvin Mitchell of White Pigeon, Denise (Rod) Boley of Niles, Rhonda (Steve) St. Louis of White Pigeon, David (Analyn) Knapp of Niles, and Dawn (Tito) Tamayo of Mishawaka; ten grandchildren; Shari and Mike Eazsol, Brian and James Personette, Sean and Devon O'Toole, Sharla Kohnen, Alexis Boley, Amanda Hunter and Tyler Fair, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; siblings, Minnie Walter of Buchanan and Jim (Peggy) Miller of Manchester, Tennessee; She will also be greatly missed by her forever friend Keith Knapp of Niles as well as many extended family members and close friends. A time of visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service to honor Helen's life will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
