Obituary of Elsie Marcucci

Elsie Marcucci, 95, of Coloma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Elsie was born on July 18, 1921, in Breslau, Germany to Ernest and Olga (Gessel) Schwartz. Following the death of her biological mother, Elsie was raised by her step-mother Erna (Gessel) Schwartz. She came to the United States of America as a young girl and became a Naturalized Citizen on November 17, 1960. On October 7, 1955, Elsie wed John Patrick Marcucci at a ceremony in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She spent her adult life being a bartender at The Friendly in Coloma and Wil-O-Paw Lanes. After Elsie retired she took great joy in babysitting for families in the Coloma area. She loved toting around the kids and getting them back and forth to school each day. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John Marcucci in 1989. Elsie is survived by her children, Retired Lt. Col. John (Martha) Marcucci, USMC of Columbia, South Carolina, Minnie LaRocca of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Dorothy (Joel)Corder of Punta Gorda, Florida, Gloria Cocherell of Chino, California, and Linda Gallert of Coloma, Michigan; brother, Erwin Schwartz; sisters, Gertie Smith and Dorothy Weishaupt; grandchildren, John Marcucci, Mark Marcucci, Patrick Marcuci, Donnie Schultz, Ron Schultz, Duane Schultz, Laura Garrett, Kathy Truitt, Julie Holland, Jennifer Cocherell, Heather Smith, Joshua Gallert, and Jason Gallert; and many more nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. with a time of visitation two hours prior.
