Obituary of Michele Burkhead

Michele Ann Burkhead, 57, of Niles, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan surrounded by her family and friends. Michele was born at Goshen General Hospital on March 22, 1959 to the late Chauncey and Leona (Penrose) Burkhead and grew up in Niles. Michele was fortunate enough to be loved by her guardians Don and Deanna Elrod. The Elrod's loved her and treated her like she was their own daughter after the passing of her parents; they were devoted and loving parents until the time of her death. Michele will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Walter Burkhead, David Burkhead, Janet Aronson and Sandra Mahler. Michele is survived by her siblings Helen LeCount, Tommy Boles, Larry LeCount, Floyd LeCount, and Ramona Burch; and her guardians Don and Deanna Elrod. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home with a time of visitation two hours prior. Memorial donations may be made in Michele's name to Living Alternatives for the Developmentally disabled located at 300 Whitney Street, Dowagiac, MI 49047.
