Please share a memory of Doug to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doug Mcomber, 65, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Doug was born on November 5, 1952, to the late Robert and Mary Mcomber. After graduating from high school Doug joined the military where he served three tours in Vietnam. After he came home Doug went on to become an accomplished welder. He continued this career path until an industrial accident forced his retirement in 2007. On June 16, 2006, he wed Jo at a ceremony in South Bend. When Doug and Jo were married Doug proudly inherited three daughters. He was a proud father who bragged about his girls' accomplishments because he was so honored to be their father. Doug also loved being outdoors, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. Doug thought there was no greater joy in life than being a husband and father…until he became a grandfather. He spent much of his free time with his nine grandchildren and enjoyed every minute of it. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary; and brother, Michael Mcomber. Doug is survived by his wife, Jo Mcomber; daughters, Wendy (Ric Baker) Hunt of Sister Lakes, Michigan, Christina (Timmothy) Reid of Niles, and Adrian Myers of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren, Ethan, Emily, Vickie, Deacon, Timmothy, Will, Alex, Ronson Jr., and Arabella; sisters, Cheryl (Ben) LaPorte of Niles and Suzan (Tom) Clark of Fountain, Michigan; and many extended family members and close friends. Doug's family will be holding a get together at the Buchanan American Legion on Friday, December 22, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
