Obituary of Ethel L. Lund

Ethel L. Lund, 91, of Niles, passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, March 19, 2017. She was born in Decatur, Michigan on April 30, 1925 to the late Hallie and Fern (True) Brewer. Ethel graduated from Niles High School, class of 1943. Shortly after graduating, Ethel married Paul Rockwell and in their 25 years of marriage, they raised five children together. Ethel worked at Simplicity Pattern Company in Niles where she was a pattern folder. On February 17, 1973 she wed Gaylen Lund at a ceremony in Niles; the couple celebrated their 34th year anniversary prior to his passing in 2007. She was an avid reader, enjoyed needlepoint, sewing and bird watching. Ethel loved to dance, especially Polka. She will be remembered for being a caring and loving woman. Her family was most precious to her above all else. Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gaylen Lund, a daughter, Linda Moore, a brother, Duane Brewer and two sisters, Elaine Kromer and Belva Carnes. She is survived by her children; Don (Ruth) Rockwell of Elkhart, Indiana, Pat (Gene) Lintz of Niles, Ed (Lois) Rockwell of Niles, and Sandy (Tim) Wilson of Niles, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior. An interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Ethel's memory to Church Community Services, 907 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart, Indiana 46516.
