Obituary of Russell Hite

Russell Hite, 82, of Niles, passed away at West Woods of Niles on Friday, March 24, 2017.
He was born on March 12, 1935, in South Bend to the late Roy and Blanch (Gantz) Hite.
Russell served in the U.S. Army after high school. He worked most of his life as a tow truck driver, locally. Russell was a member of the Amvets Post #1978, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2094, and the American Legion Post #26, all of Niles. Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Nascar. Russell also enjoyed racing cars for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cynthia McCarty, a sister, Joan Hancock and four brothers; Frank, James, Earl and Tom Hite.
Russell is survived by a son Curtis (Veronica) Loging of South Bend, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two sisters; Joyce (Eugene) Okonski of Mishawaka and Sylvia Knight of Niles.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made payable to AMVETS or the American Legion Post 51 in Buchanan.
