Obituary of Mary Smith

Mary Smith, 66, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 3, 2017. Mary was born on February 21, 1951, to the late Clayton and Doris Hemphill in Niles. Mary graduated from Niles High School in 1969. After graduating from high school, Mary went to work for Niles Steel Tank; and on August 7, 1971, she wed David Smith at a ceremony in Niles. She was always active and could be found working in her yard, doing needle work, baking homemade treats for her family, or updating everyone with her latest find on her genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Patrick and Carl Hemphill. Mary is survived by her husband, David; son, Darren (Katy) Smith of Buchanan; brother, Curt (Gretchen Langschwager) Hemphill of Niles; and many extended family members and close friends. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Calvary Cemetery.
