Obituary of Candice Seals

Candice Seals, 68, of Niles, passed away at her home on Friday, April 7, 2017, with her family and friends by her side. As a child she moved from place to place until June of 1963. She returned to Edwardsburg, Michigan to finish her high school years. There she met her husband of fifty years, Paul Seals, and the two were wed on October 21, 1966. She was a special needs teaching assistant for Niles Community Schools for 25 years, coached girls softball for 14 years in the Niles area, along with coaching youth bowling at White's Bowling Lanes. Being raised on a farm, she was a very seasonal person. Summer was for gardening, bringing in all the birds she could, along with fishing with her husband. Fall was for canning, sewing, and cooking with a little upholstery on the side. Candice was preceded in death by her father, Laddie Gene Curtis; step-mother, Ruth Curtis; biological mother, Joan Ruth Hunt; and only brother, Douglas Curtis. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her pride and joy, two children, Candy Seals of Niles and Paul (Nancy) Seals, Jr. of Portage, Michigan; two grandsons, Rocco and John Seals of Portage; step-brother, Michael (Diane) Seward of Niles; and several close neighbors. In keeping with Candice's wishes she has been cremated and her family will be remembering her privately.
