Obituary of Dorothy Pitcher

Dorothy Pitcher, 74, of Niles, passed away at home on Friday, December 15, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on August 22, 1943, to the late William and Goldie (Casey) Allen in Halls, Tennessee. On October 15, 1959, Dorothy wed David Pitcher at a ceremony in Niles. Dorothy enjoyed caring for others and turned this into a lifelong career. For as long as her family can remember she has spent her time caring for others in their homes. She enjoyed taking care of people who needed help and came home to continue that and care for her family. She also loved gardening and traveling but was especially fond of her bright cherry red sports car. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Goldie, son, David Allen Pitcher; and brothers, Bobby, W.F. "Dub", Johnny, Virgil and Calvin Allen. Dorothy is survived by her husband, David of Niles; daughter, Tammy (Mike) Miller of Niles; grandchildren, Ashley (Rodney) Hamilton, Dustin (Katie) Pitcher, Jay Pitcher, and Tori Parks; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brycen, Dharma, Jameson, and Wyatt; and many extended family members and close friends. Funeral services to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Mission Hills Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan or the American Diabetes Association.
