Obituary of Miriam Lydia Harris

Miriam Lydia (Bates) Harris, 88, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Morningside Nursing Home in South Bend.
She was born on March 6, 1929 in Galesburg, Michigan to the late Joe and Harriet A. (Carson) Bates.
After graduating high school, Miriam furthered her education at Western Michigan University. She married her husband, Norman W. Harris on December 18, 1949 at a ceremony in Galesburg. A homemaker most of her life, she also enjoyed painting, gardening and cherished her family heirlooms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman W. Harris and a daughter, Jan Jenniches.
Miriam is survived by her two sons, Charles W. (Kathryn) Harris of Niles and Neal W. Harris of Mishawaka, four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Her family will gather for a time of remembrance and celebration at Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Berrien Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made in Miriam's memory to a charity of one's choice.
