Obituary of Thelma Jean Spivey

Thelma Jean Spivey, 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Timbers Nursing Home in Dowagiac. She was a lifelong resident of the Dowagiac area.
She was born December 26, 1923 in Cassopolis to the late Ray and Marguerite (Edwards) Jones.
She married Robert Spivey on July 11, 1944 in Glenvil, Nebraska.
Early in her career she worked for the county extension in Cassopolis. Before she retired, she worked for Jessup Door Company, and Round Oak Restaurant.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bob Jones, step-sister Florence Kraft and a step-brother Dean Leich.
She is survived by two sons, Patrick (Pam) Spivey of Eau Claire and John (Sue) Spivey of Hartford, daughter Susan (Dave) Davis of Dowagiac, five grandchildren; Joe (Tammi) Spivey of Dowagiac, Becky (Brian) Grabemeyer of Dowagiac, Stacy (Jeff) Toy of Decatur, Andy (Deanna) Spivey of Howell and Julie Spivey of Harper, Texas and six great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Jean's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. She will be laid to rest by her husband at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
Jean was an avid reader, and memorial contributions may be made to the Dowagiac Public Library; 211 Commercial Street, Dowagiac, Michigan 49047.
