Obituary of Joyce L. Freshley

Joyce L. Freshley, 72, of Niles, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, following a brief illness. She was born on August 25, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Roy and Lorayne (Rizzo) Anderson. Joyce was a graduate of Niles High School, class of 1962. A homemaker most of her life, Joyce enjoyed working beside her husband, going to her grandchildren's ball games, cooking, baking, and reading. She owned and operated Brew Ha Ha for several years and always enjoyed talking with her customers. Joyce will be remembered for her bright smile, her listening ear, and love for her family and friends. On April 1, 1972 Joyce married Robert Freshley at a ceremony in Buchanan, combining their families. The couple recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert Freshley of Niles, her children, Jeff Brawley (Alison Grosse) of Three Oaks and Chris (Lori) Brawley of St. Joseph, Robert's children; Richard (Becky) Martin of Edwardsburg, Julie (Wade) Wolf of Constantine and Lisa Rae Freshley of San Francisco, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, James (Charlene) Anderson of Florida, two sisters, Janice McCombs of Florida and Jill Anderson of Missouri, and a favorite nephew Jason Lyne of Florida. A memorial to celebrate Joyce's life will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Michiana Christian Embassy at 1922 E. Main Street in Niles, with Pastor Jeff Whittaker officiating. Friends and family are welcome to gather one hour prior to the service.
