Rae Lee (Carpenter) Meador-Newsom November 25, 1942 December 3, 2006 Rae Lee (Carpenter) Meador-Newsom, 64, of Washington Street in Niles, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 3, 2006. Rae was born on November 25, 1942 to Lester and Mona (Weaver) Carpenter in Niles. On August 20, 1960 Rae married Ronald Kent Meador at the Bertrand Bible Church in Niles. Together they had 3 children. After Ron passed away in 1995 Rae met Billy Newsom and they were married at Lake Michigan in 1997. Rae was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Niles for over 20 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and nature. Rae spent her entire life caring for others, she was a housewife, mother and was a child care provider all of her life. She is preceded in death by her father Lester and first husband Ron. Rae is survived by her mother Mona, Husband Billy, daughters Lori (David) Bartlett of Fayetville, NC, Luann (Donald) Keller of Simpsonville, SC, Ronda (Kenneth) Spaulding of South Bend, Sara (Maurice) Battles of South Bend and Bethany (Evan) Holmgren of South Bend and 13 grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church at 10:00 am where the service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Brad Lomax officiating. Rae will be interned at the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services (formerly Pifer~Smith) of Niles.
