Obituary of Richard Brown

Richard C. Brown May 7, 1917 December 14, 2006 Richard C. Brown, 89, of Park Drive, Niles, passed away on Thursday December 14, 2006 at Healthwin Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Dick was born on May 7, 1917 in Three Rivers to the late Claude P. and Irene Brown. He was a proud WWII veteran serving in the US Navy. After returning from the service, he spent many years as a police office in South Bend. He moved to California and enjoyed working in realty. When he moved back to Niles he spent 13 years working for Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Elkhart before he retired. His hobbies and interests included listening to music and self taught himself to play both the piano and organ. He was married to Ethel Farrage who preceded him in death and later married Rosella Burkholder who also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother Larry E. Brown and a granddaughter. Dick is survived by a son Richard C. Brown Jr. of Elgin, Illinois, a sister Mary (Walter) Patterson of Niles, a nephew Dennis (Patricia) Patterson of Niles, two nieces Janice (Bobby) Morrison of Niles and Marsha (Kenneth) Burger of Niles. A time of visitation will be held on Monday December 18, 2006 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel at 61453 M-51 Niles with a funeral service being held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Mission Hills. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Mission Hills Memorial Chapel.
