Obituary of Alden Meschke

Alden William Meschke, 89, of St. Joe, passed away at Jordan's Nursing Home in Bridgeman following an extended illness.
He was born on September 9, 1917 in St. Joseph to the late William and Minnie (Schlutt) Meschke.
Alden graduated from St. Joseph High School and then attended Michigan State University for one year. He then married Gladys Rennhack of Benton Harbor, Michigan, who preceded him in death. Alden was working for Emlong Nurseries when he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He served his country overseas as a utility repairman in an army hospital.
Alden rejoined his family after two years of service and worked for Paramount Die Casting for several years. He then worked for Heath Zenith Company until his retirement.
Alden married Marjorie Fetke of St. Joseph who also preceded him in death.
Alden was a life member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. He served the church as manager of the softball team and Sunday School Superintendent.
Alden is survived by a son Elden (Beatrice) Meschke of St. Joseph, a daughter Virginia Holmes of Stevensville, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, a brother Harry Meschke of Portage, and a sister Wahnita (Charles) Miller of Coloma.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 9, 2007 at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ 3001 Veronica Drive, St. Joseph with Pastor Terry Tessari officiating. A time of visitation will begin at the church on Friday at 9:00a.m. An interment will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens.
