Obituary of Robert Locke

Robert Carlyle Locke June 15, 1927 March 14, 2007 Robert Carlyle Locke, 79, of Sycamore St. in Niles, passed away at his home on Wednesday morning, March 14, 2007. Robert was born in Oak Park, IL on June 15, 1927 to the late Dennis and Dorothy (Godfrey) Locke. In September of 1945 Robert enlisted in to the Army and proudly served his country until March of 1947. During his time in the service he served as a clerk and was awarded the Victory Medal Army of Occupation Medal while in Germany and an Overseas Service Bar. He also visited Paris while he was in the service. After he got out of the military he worked at LithoArts in Indiana where he retired from. Robert was an avid golfer, Cubs and Bears fan. In his younger day he was also known to be an excellent hunter and fly fisherman. Robert was a Lifetime Member of the Niles Elks Lodge #1322. During his 54 years of membership Robert was elected as an Exalted Ruler. He is preceded in death by his parents. Robert is survived by his daughter Hanby (Herman) Christy of Edwardsburg and his son Robert C. Locke, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In keeping with Robert's wishes he has been cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 3:00 at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Niles with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor Lee Campbell will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Niles.
