Irene Thelma Henry, 88, of Niles, passed away at her home on March 14, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 21, 1918 in Cardin, Oklahoma to the late Walter and Emmer Ethel (Kendrick) Coffey. Irene worked for Industrial Coil for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Eagles Lodge, VFW Post 26 and was actively involved for many years in the American Legion Post 116. She enjoyed cross-stitch, latch-hook, needlepoint and baking. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Catherine Mooney, a son Walter Smothermon, three brothers; Elmer Coffey, J. Coffey and Ed Coffey and a sister Lorene Owens. Irene is survived by a son Tony (Janice) Henry of Edwardsburg, three grandsons; Todd Mooney of Illinois, Joshua and Justin Henry of Edwardsburg, a granddaughter Andrea Henry of Edwardsburg, two brothers Doyle (Eva Jane) Coffey of Arkansas and Lester Coffey of Arkansas and two sisters, Ruby Coffey of Arkansas and Martha Jane (O.C.) Johnson of Arkansas. A time of visitation will be held on Friday March 16, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 17, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Church of Christ 1515 Huron Street, Niles with Pastor Thompson officiating. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
