Arlan "Allan" E. Harper, 80, of 5th Street Niles, passed away on Friday April 13, 2007 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph following a lengthy illness. Allan was born on March 11, 1927 in Benton Harbor to the late Otto and Arveda Harper. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 - 1947. He was a dedicated Class A Machinist for over 35 years with Henco Enterprises before his retirement. Allan was an avis bowler and enjoyed the outdoors. Those who knew Allan tell of his love and devotion to his children and grandchildren. He was a great leader and teacher. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronald Harper and a sister Aylan Harper. He is survived by a daughter Sarah Harris (Ken Teeter) of Mishawaka, two sons David and Carl Atkinson, two grandchildren David Harris of Mishawaka and Melissa Harris of Galesburg and a brother Arlo Harper. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 17th, 207 at 3:00p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
