Obituary of Leon Lyons

Leon W. Lyons, 75, Niles, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, July 28, 2007, with his wife by his side. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Silver Creek Township, Michigan, to the late Lawrence and Flossie (Wright) Lyons. On June 14, 1953 Leon married the love of his life, Julia Krieger at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan. Leon served his country proudly in the National Guard for over thirteen years. He worked for National Standard as a machinist before founding LW Lyons Inc. where he was dedicated to archery research and development. In addition to owning his business, Leon made time to be involved in local police work in serving for a brief time as Edwardsburg's Police Chief and Cass County Sheriff's Department. Leon had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hunting and fishing from the time he was a child. Being a true conservationist, Leon loved the outdoors and it's quietness. He shared most of his hobbies with his best friend, his wife. Together they traveled the country by plane and motor home, raised and bred show dogs, and enjoyed spending their winters in Mission, Texas. Leon enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He had ridden from 'boarder to boarder and coast to coast'. Leon also was an accomplished musician and played the Dulcimer beautifully. Several of his songs were recorded and published. Leon's greatest characteristics were that of being a teacher, friend and a giver to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Laura Archer and two brothers Glenn and Dale Lyons. Leon is survived by his wife Julia Lyons of Niles, a daughter Sheryl Lyons, his Super son and Super daughter Jerry and Jodi King of Niles and a sister Ina Mosher of Fenton, Michigan.
