Obituary of Janet Bahus

Janet May (Duncan) Bahus July 21, 1957 August 6, 2007 Janet May Bahus, 50, of 82nd Street in Coloma, passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor on Monday, August 6, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Janet was born on July 21, 1957 in St. Joseph to Wilma Jean (Barker) Little and Thurman Troy Duncan. After graduating high school Janet attended college for a short time before marrying the love of her life, Donald Bahus. She worked in housekeeping for the hospital in Watervliet, MI. Janet always enjoyed her jobs and the people she worked with. She always took pride in what she did. Janet was diagnosed with cancer in 1997 and was given 5 years to live. She was a fighter and never gave up, earning her the nick name "Sunshine" from her nurses at the University of Michigan Hospital. Even in her illness she was always on the go, helping others in need and traveling with her family. She enjoyed cookouts and meeting new people where ever she went. Janet spent her free time with her family and made crocheted towels, blankets and footies. If a stranger ever commented on how they liked one of her items they were sure to be surprised when she would show up a week later with an identical set for them, she never met a stranger. She is preceded in death by her father, 5 children and Sister Norma Duncan. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Donald Bahus, Mother Wilma Little, Sons Donald (Cindy) Bahus of Ligonier, Indiana and Alven Bahus of Coloma, brother Thurman Duncan Jr. of Benton Harbor, Sisters Belinda Duncan of Benton Harbor, Lisa (Robert) Mayo of Angola, IN and Frances "Fran" Duncan of Benton Harbor and 3 precious grandchildren. A graveside service will be held to honor Janet at the North Shore Memory Garden on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:00 am where she will be interred in the Garden of Peace. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services and North Shore Memory Garden.
