Obituary of Bernice Mumaw

Bernice Ione (Bowerman) Mumaw September 27, 1924 September 21, 2007 Bernice Ione Mumaw, 82, of North 16th Street in Niles, passed away at Buchanan Meadows Assisted Living in Buchanan on Friday, September 21, 2007. Bernice was born on September 27, 1924 to the late Ray and Marie (True) Bowerman in Niles Michigan. She was one of two children. After Bernice graduated from Niles High School she wed the love of her life, Ed Mumaw on July 3, 1945 at a ceremony in Niles. They were married for 60 years when Ed passed away in 2006. Together they had 2 children. Bernice was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Niles. She worked most of her life as a wife and homemaker but also enjoyed her work at Montgomery Wards in the Personnel Department. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed Mumaw and Brother Cecil Bowerman. Bernice is survived by her Son Richard "Dick" (Bridget) Mumaw of Niles, Daughter Linda (Robert) Simpson of Howell, Michigan, grand daughter Tracey (Dan) Hossfeld of Niles, great-grand daughter Zarah Mumaw of Niles, Aunt Margaret Rankel of Mishawaka, IN and Cousin Wuanita Knauf. A memorial service will be held to honor Bernice's memory on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Niles. Pastor Kyle Gardner will be officiating. Bernice will be inurned at the Mission Hills Memorial Garden in Niles. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Niles.
