Addie Hendrix, 83, of Royalton Manor in St. Joseph passed away on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
Addie was born on October 15, 1924 to the late Robert L. and Corene (Tate) Cunningham in Bessemer, Alabama. She was one of 9 children in the Cunningham household.
After high school Addie wed the love of her life, Delong Hendrix. Together they had 6 wonderful children. Though Addie's family was the main focus of her life she took a job at a nursing home for several years before she moved to the Michigan Fruit Canners where she retired from. She was a very active member of the New Mission Missionary Baptist Church that is led by her faithful pastor Rev. Robert Foster. She was a Choir Member, the Choir President, on the Mothers Board and on the Pastors Aid Mission along with being a faithful member for over 35 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Delong and siblings Melba Gosa, Robert Cunningham Jr. and Annie Clayton.
Addie is survived by her children Lee Hendrix of Benton Harbor, Robert (Carol) Hendrix of Benton Harbor, Jim (Janet) Hendrix of Stanton, Virginia, Wayne Hendrix of Benton Harbor, Warren (Debra) Hendrix of Glendale, Arizona and Patricia Burkes of Benton Harbor, Siblings Odessa Webster of Bessmer, Alabama, Linda Harper of Bessmer, Marion Ford of Bessmer, Mildred Yow of Bessmer and Evelyn (Sonny) Collins of Bessmer a host of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Goddaughters and Godsons and her best friend Dorothy (James) Griffis of Benton Harbor.
A time of visitation will take place at the Grater Grace Church; located at 660 Nickerson; Benton Harbor, MI 49022 from 12-1 on Friday, November 9, 2007 with her funeral service immediately following at 1pm. Pastors James Hightower and Robert Foster will be officiating. Addie will be interred at the North Shore Memory Garden in Coloma.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Niles, MI.
